Myth 1: Lab-grown diamonds are fake.

Fact: Lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds.
They have the same chemical, physical, and optical properties as natural diamonds. The only difference is where they’re formed — in a lab rather than deep within the Earth.

                         

Myth 2: Lab-grown diamonds are cheap imitations like cubic zirconia.

Fact: Lab-grown diamonds are not simulants like cubic zirconia or moissanite.
They are made of pure carbon arranged in a crystalline structure, just like mined diamonds. Cubic zirconia and moissanite are look-alikes but are completely different materials and can are considered as fake diamonds, thus popularly used in imitation jewellery.


Myth 3: Lab-grown diamonds are flawless.

Fact: Lab-grown diamonds can still have inclusions and imperfections.
Just like mined diamonds, lab diamonds vary in clarity and colour. They are graded using the same standards by institutions like GIA and IGI.


Myth 4: Lab-grown diamonds are more eco-friendly and ethical.

Fact: Generally true, but it depends on how they’re made.
Lab-grown diamonds usually have a lower environmental impact and avoid human rights issues linked with some mining operations. However, growing diamonds in labs can be energy-intensive, especially if fossil fuels are used. Look for producers who use renewable energy for a better eco-profile.


  Myth 5: You can’t tell the difference between a lab and  natural diamond.

 Fact: Visually, even renowned gemologist can’t tell the difference between Lab and Natural diamonds. Only advanced lab instruments can detect the growth origin   by identifying trace elements or growth patterns.


 

Myth 6: Lab-grown diamonds are not suitable for engagement rings.

Fact: Lab diamonds are just as durable and brilliant, making them perfect for engagement rings.
They score a 10 on the Mohs scale of hardness—just like natural diamonds—meaning they’re equally resistant to scratching.
